Hello everyone! Welcome to my website. I am bumpysardines, a game developer, artist, animator, musician, and professional idiot. I am currently working on a project called Carina's Odyssey.

Carina's Odyssey

Hello everyone! Welcome to my website / blog. Carina's Odyssey is a game I have been working on for past ~2 years and I am excited to share information about it. In this post, I will detail specifics about the game. I am currently around 20% done with the game (I've been busy with school since the end of 2024 to now). The game is a Turn-based RPG and Action RPG combined with Stealth, and Open-World mechanics.

 

Below are details about the game. (spoiler free)

 

Story:

- Takes place around the world. Each arc takes place in a different country with different enemies and dungeons to explore.

- The main character, Carina Cadieux, is a detective that works for WORPOL, an internation police organization.

- The game begins in Grenouille, France (literally meaning 'frog' in French). This is a fake town located near real world Bordeaux where Carina grew up.  

Battle Mechanics:

- The player is able to seamlessly switch between 'Action Mode' and 'Beat-Down Mode'.

- 'Action Mode' is an Action RPG combat mode, allowing the player to attack in real time and move around the environment freely.

- 'Beat-Down Mode' is a Turn-Based combat mode. In this mode, your team does more damage to enemies, but uses more stamina.

- A good combination of using these combat modes is by attacking enemies in Action Mode, then switching to Beat-Down Mode when the enemy is stunned in order to maximize damage dealt.

- Music-synced battles.

- Characters idle to the beat of the music.

- The music changes based on your status. (winning or losing / high health or low health)

- UI elements move to the beat of the music.  

Non-Battle Mechanics:

- Full weather and time system.

- Can buy skateboards and roller blades to traverse the world quicker.

- Can do tricks while riding these for fun.

I dont want to announce too much about the game at this time, so I wont reveal any more information like this. In the future, I may post some concept art and development screenshots and / or updates.
